The Noun Project

Building a free online collection of our world's visual language.

The Noun Project’s mission is to share, celebrate, and enhance the world’s visual language. Our goal is to collect and organize all the symbols that form our language into one easy-to-use online library that can be accessed by anyone. All the symbols on our site are completely free to download, and can be used for design projects, architecture presentations, art pieces - just about anything. Our symbols live here:

We think a visual language that can be understood by all cultures and people is a pretty amazing thing. We also get excited about things like scale, proportion, and shape, and are committed to design and quality in everything we do. We think these symbols are works of art worth celebrating.

In order to pursue our mission, we're growing our collection of symbols and working on improving the way we share them. We're continuing to create and add symbols, and are working on opening the site for users to upload the symbols they create. In order to provide better access to the symbols, we're also working on adding a search option and organizing the symbols into easily-accessible categories such as transportation, web-apps, way-finding, communication, etc. In the future we will also host exciting design contests for objects or ideas that need to be visually defined, for example a universal symbol for gluten free, food truck, or the internet.
